On February 10, China Times reported that the top Korean star has been suffering from severe back and waist pain for more than six months. Bi Rain revealed that his condition has worsened to the point where he has had to make frequent visits to the hospital for examinations and treatment. He admitted, “Although I always want to appear energetic in front of the public, my health condition recently has been really bad.”
According to the actor, he has been diagnosed with cervical disc herniation at the C5–C6 vertebrae and lumbar spinal stenosis at the L5–L6 level. These conditions have caused intense pain from his back to his pelvis, and he even experiences unsettling grinding sounds from his bones whenever he moves. Bi Rain explained that his cervical spine, which should naturally form a C-shaped curve, has straightened due to strain. Despite having strong muscles, years of dancing and incorrect posture caused twisting damage to his C5–C6 vertebrae.

The artist traced the origin of his injuries to filming a boxing-themed movie. During production, he was forced to repeatedly use muscle groups he normally did not engage, particularly in his lower back and waist. After filming ended, persistent pain began and continued for five to six months.
Despite his condition, Bi Rain could not cancel his scheduled concerts. Instead, he temporarily relied on hospital-based physical therapy, including shockwave treatment, to relax tense muscles so he could continue performing.

Doctors reportedly warned that if Bi Rain had not already possessed a strong physique and well-developed muscles, he could have suffered early leg numbness or loss of strength. Medical professionals advised him to rest and focus on recovery to prevent his cervical disc herniation and lumbar spinal stenosis from worsening.
After Bi Rain shared his alarming physical condition, fans expressed deep concern and hoped that the longtime entertainer would prioritize rest and health after decades of nonstop activity. Bi Rain is widely recognized as a singer, actor, dancer, producer, and businessman and is considered a first-generation legend of modern K-pop who helped spread the Korean Wave globally. In 2013, he publicly confirmed his relationship with actress Kim Tae Hee, and the couple married in 2017. They now have two daughters and are regarded as one of the most exemplary families in Korean entertainment.
