The final episode recorded 9.1% in the Seoul metropolitan area and 8.4% nationwide, with peak ratings soaring to 10.1% (Nielsen Korea, paid households).
The episode focused on attorneys Yoon Seok Hoon (Lee Jin Wook) and Kang Hyo Min (Jung Chaeyeon) as they defended a couple who married under a co-parenting contract, challenging traditional views of marriage. The court’s ruling—that marriage is the process of enduring imperfect love—moved the legal team and viewers alike. The ending hinted at a potential romance between Seok Hoon and Hyo Min, while also highlighting Seok Hoon’s gradual shift from cold professionalism to vulnerability.
Since its premiere at 3.7%, Beyond the Bar steadily climbed in ratings, breaking its own record nearly every week and reaching a high of 9.1% by episode 10, topping its time slot. The drama also dominated popularity charts, ranking No. 1 in Gallup Korea’s “Most Enjoyed TV Programs” survey (2.8%) and leading Good Data Corporation’s drama buzz rankings. Given its success, both cast and viewers expressed hopes for a second season. Lee Jin Wook revealed during a wrap-up interview that discussions for Season 2 are ongoing and added, “This was my first lawyer role, but it suited me perfectly. There are so many stories left to tell.” Jung Chaeyeon echoed the sentiment, stating she would “absolutely” return for another season.
Lee Jin Wook delivered a layered performance as the veteran lawyer Yoon Seok Hoon, blending cynicism with humanity, while Jung Chaeyeon achieved her biggest success yet in a lead role, authentically portraying a rookie lawyer growing each episode.
