Ownership of a luxury residence worth more than KRW 20 billion left behind by late Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu has reportedly been officially transferred to her husband, Koo Jun Yup, and her two children.
According to Taiwanese media outlets, the ownership transfer process for one of Hsu’s two luxury properties in Taipei, known as Taipei Xinyi, has now been completed.
The penthouse, which Hsu purchased in 2016 for NT$362 million, has been registered under the joint ownership of Koo Jun Yup and her two minor children, with each inheriting a one-third share. The property’s current market value is estimated at approximately NT$460 million. Because Hsu’s daughter, 11, and son, 9, are still minors, their inherited assets will be managed by their legal guardian, their biological father and Hsu’s ex-husband, Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei.
Meanwhile, ownership of Hsu’s second luxury residence, National Art Museum Residence, where her mother Huang Chun Mei currently lives, has yet to be transferred. Local reports suggest the delay is due to an outstanding mortgage on the property. Hsu purchased the residence in 2009 for approximately NT$200 million. It was later used as collateral for a NT$110 million loan to support Wang Xiaofei’s business ventures. Reports claim Wang has repaid only NT$5 million of the loan so far.
Following Barbie Hsu’s passing, all valuables inside her home were documented, photographed, and officially notarized in the presence of legal representatives from both Koo Jun Yup and Wang Xiaofei’s sides. Under Taiwanese law, none of the assets could be removed or disposed of until the inheritance process was finalized in order to protect the rights of all beneficiaries. Since Hsu did not leave behind a legal will, Taiwanese inheritance law applies. Her estate is expected to be divided equally among her surviving spouse, Koo Jun Yup, and her two children, with each receiving one-third of the inheritance.
Barbie Hsu rose to fame across Asia after starring as the female lead in the Taiwanese drama Meteor Garden, the local adaptation of Boys Over Flowers. One of Taiwan’s biggest entertainment stars, she married Wang Xiaofei in 2011 before the couple divorced in 2021. In 2022, she reunited with and married South Korean singer Koo Jun Yup. Tragically, Hsu passed away in February 2025 while traveling in Japan after complications from influenza and pneumonia. Her sudden death shocked fans across Asia and sparked widespread attention surrounding the management of her estate.
