On June 4, a video titled “‘You Showed Me Through My Husband’ Singer Baek Ji Young” was uploaded to the YouTube channel CompassionKR, where the veteran singer spoke openly about her marriage, faith, and personal struggles.

Baek Ji Young revealed that before meeting her husband, she had prayed for her future spouse. Reflecting humorously on her prayers, she said, “Everything I prayed for regarding appearance came true, but I never prayed about age. That’s why I ended up with such a young husband,” drawing laughter.

She went on to explain how her perspective shifted after marriage and finding faith. “I think it was actually a good sequence to meet God after getting married. The way I see my husband changed, and the way I see myself changed too,” she shared.

Baek Ji Young added that she believes there was meaning behind marrying later in life. “I feel like there was a purpose in getting married at an older age. I was trained so much to build a family grounded in faith that when hardships came after marriage, they weren’t unbearably difficult,” she confessed.

She further admitted that she surprisingly felt more gratitude than despair during difficult times. “I was even more thankful. I came to understand very quickly that these hardships were given to shape me for a reason. After accepting and overcoming them, I realized how deeply protected and supported I was,” she said.

Without directly naming the incident, Baek Ji Young appeared to reference her husband’s past drug controversy, saying, “My husband also went through difficult situations, and he faced several major trials.”

Meanwhile, Baek Ji Young and Jung Suk Won married in 2013 and have one daughter together. In 2018, Jung Suk Won received a 10-month prison sentence suspended for two years after being convicted on drug-related charges. Following the controversy, he stepped away from broadcast activities for a period of self-reflection. Recently, he has gradually resumed public interaction by appearing on Baek Ji Young’s YouTube channel alongside her.
