BABYMONSTER’s “Batter Up” Flops on Korean Charts But Rises Internationally

The debut song “Batter Up” of BABYMONSTER is not doing well digitally in Korea, but records decent international achievements

Despite highly-anticipated for being YG’s first girl group after BLACKPINK, BABYMONSTER is not doing well in Korea, as their debut single “Batter Up” is not charting at all on Korean music charts.

In particular, the song has exited the real-time Top 100 charts on all of Korea’s major music platforms including Melon, Bugs, Genie, and Flo. On the Daily Charts, “Batter Up”s ranking sees a continuous decline, never making it into the Top 100 of any of the aforementioned platforms.

Such sad records brought a huge disappointment, especially when BABYMONSTER is expected to be YG’s new hope and future.

On the other hand, “Batter Up” is actually doing well outside of Korea.

In particular, the song has attracted over 4 million Spotify streams within 4 days, a remarkable number for a rookie group. As of December 1st (KST), the MV for “Batter Up” has also surpassed 50 million views and 1.7 million likes on YouTube – an impressive number even for top-tier Kpop acts.
