Biography

Yeh Shu-hua, known mononymously as Shuhua, is a Taiwanese singer and performer based in South Korea. She is a member of the South Korean girl group I‑dle, managed by Cube Entertainment. Shuhua debuted with the group in 2018 and is recognized for her roles as vocalist, visual, and maknae (youngest member).

Early Life and Education

Shuhua was born on January 6, 2000, in Taoyuan, Taiwan, as the second of three daughters in her family. She attended Hwa Kang Arts School in Taiwan, where she received formal arts education prior to pursuing a music career.

Before entering the entertainment industry, Shuhua originally aspired to become an actress. She was inspired to pursue performance after seeing HyunA on stage, which motivated her to train as a vocalist.

Career

Pre-Debut and Trainee Period (2016–2018)

In May 2016, Shuhua was recruited by Cube Entertainment through the Cube Star World Audition held in Taiwan. After completing her first year of high school, she relocated to South Korea to begin formal idol training. As a trainee, she appeared in a promotional video for Rising Star Cosmetics and later appeared in the music video for 10cm’s song “Pet” alongside Yoo Seon-ho.

Debut with I-dle (2018–present)

Shuhua officially debuted as a member of (G)I-dle on May 2, 2018, with the release of the group’s debut mini-album I Am and the title track “Latata.” Since debut, she has played an integral role in group activities, contributing as a vocalist, visual, and the maknae, helping the group achieve both commercial success and critical praise domestically and internationally.

In early 2023, Shuhua expanded her entertainment activities by becoming the host of the web entertainment show Workdol.

In February 2024, Cube Entertainment announced that Shuhua would temporarily halt activities due to health issues, but she returned to full activity on March 21, 2024 and participated in performances, including the MLB Seoul Series.

• Attitude and Communication Style (2021-2022): Shuhua has been criticized for her direct and sometimes harsh communication with fans during live streams and on social media, with some netizens finding her comments rude.
• Agency “Photoshopping” (2025): In October 2025, she publicly called out her agency, Cube Entertainment, for editing her photos without her consent, which she expressed dislike for.
• Performance and Vocal Ability (Past): Earlier in her career, she faced scrutiny regarding her singing and dancing skills, with discussions on forums questioning her role in the group.
