Biography

Mark Lee is a Canadian-born rapper, singer, songwriter, and dancer active in the South Korean music industry. He is best known as a core member of the multi-national boy group NCT, where he participates in multiple sub-units, including NCT U, NCT 127, and NCT DREAM. He is also a member of the global project group SuperM, formed by SM Entertainment in collaboration with Capitol Records.

Mark is widely recognized for his versatility, having maintained simultaneous activities across multiple units while contributing significantly to songwriting, performance direction, and global promotions.

Early Life and Background

Mark Lee was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, to Korean parents. He spent his early childhood in Canada before relocating to South Korea during his teenage years to pursue a career in music. Growing up bilingual, he developed native-level fluency in English and Korean, a skill that later became central to his role in NCT’s international activities.

Prior to debut, Mark displayed a strong interest in hip-hop music, rap, and performance. He joined SM Entertainment as a trainee after passing an audition and underwent several years of intensive training in rap technique, dance, vocal performance, and stage presence.

Pre-Debut Activities

Before his official debut, Mark was introduced through SM Rookies, SM Entertainment’s pre-debut platform. As part of SM Rookies, he participated in training showcases, public performances, and promotional content, gradually gaining recognition for his technical rap skills and adaptability to various musical styles.

Debut with NCT U (2016)

Mark officially debuted in April 2016 as a member of NCT U with the single The 7th Sense. The track was widely noted for its experimental sound and choreography, with Mark’s rap performance receiving particular attention for its clarity, rhythmic precision, and stage confidence.

Activities with NCT 127

Later in July 2016, Mark debuted again as a member of NCT 127, a fixed sub-unit of NCT based in Seoul. Within NCT 127, he has consistently served as:
