Biography

Lee Se-young is a South Korean actress. She began her career as a child actress and has since become one of Korea’s leading performers, known for her range across historical dramas, romantic comedies, and thrillers. She is especially acclaimed for her portrayals in The Crowned Clown (2019), The Red Sleeve (2021), The Law Cafe (2022), The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract (2023), and What Comes After Love (2024). 

Early Life and Education

Lee Se-young was born on December 20, 1992, in Seoul, South Korea. She began acting as a young child at age five, debuting in the SBS drama The Brothers’ River in 1997. Her early experience included roles in major productions such as Dae Jang Geum (2003), which helped establish her as a prominent child actress. She attended Seomun Girls’ Middle and High School and later earned a degree in Media Communications from Sungshin Women’s University, where she was active as a campus ambassador.

Career

Child Acting and Early Career (1997–2015)

Lee spent her childhood and early teens portraying young characters in television and films. Notably, she appeared in When I Turned Nine (2004), Lovely Rivals (2004), and The Wonder Years (2007), demonstrating versatility from an early age. She continued working through adolescence with parts in series such as Kokkiri (2008) and I Miss You (2012).

Transition to Adult Roles and Prominence (2016–Present)

In 2016, Lee gained attention with The Gentlemen of Wolgyesu Tailor Shop, where her performance marked her successful transition from child actor to mature roles.
