After cranking out many bops for SM idols, the music producer Hitchhiker decided to leave for HYBE.
Hitchhiker has long become a familiar name to fans of SM idols, having worked for the Big 3 entertainment for over decade and produced songs for BoA, Super Junior, SNSD, SHINee, EXO, and more. However, Hitchhiker’s collaboration with SM seems to have come to an end, seeing that he has moved to HYBE. In particular, fans detected that Hitchhiker has changed his profile description on the platform Linkedin to “Synergy Supervisor” at HYBE. His work history has also been updated to having worked with SM Entertainment till March 2022, and recently joined HYBE in April.
While the departure left fans with a lot of regrets, for the most parts, they respect Hitchhiker’s decision. However, others started to question the reason behind Hitchhiker’s leaving, and suspected that HYBE might have offered more money. Most of all though, everyone couldn’t help but wonder what kind of songs Hitchhiker would produce after this company change.
This is not the first time HYBE successfully recruited an important employee under SM. Previously in 2019, the creative director of SM, Min Hee Jin, also drew attention when she left for HYBE to become the Chief Business Officer there. At the time, the news came as a shock to many fans of SM Entertainment, seeing that Min Hee Jin was behind the very unique and remarkable concepts of SNSD, Red Velvet, f(x), SHINee, and more. At the moment, Min Hee Jin has become the CEO of HYBE’s subsidiary company ADOR, and is preparing for an upcoming girl group of her own.
