On the August 5 episode of the YouTube show Salon Drip 2 , hosted by comedian Jang Do-yeon , Annie of the co-ed K-pop group ALLDAY PROJECT directly addressed rumors surrounding her debut.
Many online speculated she received special treatment due to being the granddaughter of Shinsegae Group chairwoman Lee Myung-hee and daughter of Shinsegae President Jung Yoo-kyung.
When asked if her visuals or background led the agency to scout her first, Annie flatly denied it. “No, I auditioned to become a trainee at The Black Label,” she said.
Annie revealed she was living abroad during her trainee days, which meant she trained remotely for nearly four years, sending weekly performance videos to the agency for evaluation.
“Whenever I visited Korea during breaks, I went to the agency to train in person,” she added, impressing Jang Do-yeon with her tenacity.
The episode also delved into lighter moments—like how her family reacted to her debut. Annie laughed as she recalled her sibling saying, “Unnie, your face is all over the internet.” Groupmate Tarzzan added that his father joked, “Can I quit my job now?”
Both artists reminisced about spending late nights together at Annie’s home post-practice, avoiding ordering food to the company. Annie shared her parents had grown fond of the team—particularly Tarzzan , who frequently entertains them with performances like Zaza’s classic “On the Bus.”
