An artist who defeated both BTS and IU to top the Melon artist chart

According to the Korean music streaming platform Melon, Lim Young Woong topped the site’s artist chart as of May 23rd. He recorded a total of 10 points for songs, 7.1 for fans increase, 8.3 for likes, 7.9 for photos, and 7.5 for videos.

To achieve this first position, the trot singer managed to surpass famous singers like IU, PSY, and BTS, who came in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, respectively. Girl groups (G)-IDLE and IVE followed in 5th and 6th place.

The Melon Artist Chart is calculated using scores given to 5 different categories, and its ranking only includes the top 50 highest scorers. 

5 categories used for the rankings include: music (based on number of streams, downloads, and users), number of fans increase, number of likes (sum of all likes across all contents), photos (number of photo viewers), and videos (number of video viewers).

Previously, Lim Young Woong has proven his intense popularity via his first full-length album “IM HERO’. Right upon release, the album took first place in terms of Initial Chodong chart with over 1.1 million copies sold, making Lim Young Woong the best-selling solo male artists of all time regarding first week sales. 

At the moment, Lim Young Woong is busy with his national tour, starting with a concert in Goyang on May 6th, and will cover big cities and provinces like Changwon, Daejeon, Incheon, and Seoul.
