On October 20th, the producers of KBS 2TV’s “2 Days 1 Night Season 4” officially announced that they had decided to leave Kim Seon-ho out of the show.

Kim Seon-ho’s withdrawal from “2 Days 1 Night” was decided after the actor got involved in a controversy over his private life. He was pointed out to be the actor K in the disclosure titled “I want to expose the two-faced and shameless personality of the rising actor K”, which was posted on an online community on October 17th. A, who posted the disclosure, claimed to be actor K’s ex-girlfriend and said she was forced to get an abortion by K.

After getting exposed, Kim Seon-ho announced his position through his agency, Salt Entertainment, on October 20th. Apologizing for the delay in giving a statement, Kim Seon-ho then admitted his faults, “I met her with good feelings. In the process, I hurt her with my careless and inconsiderate actions”. He also apologized, “I wanted to meet her in person and apologize to her first. However, I haven’t delivered a proper apology since I’m waiting for that time. Before that, I want to sincerely apologize to her through this article. I’m also sorry for disappointing people who have trusted and supported me until the end. Thanks to your support, I was able to stand here as actor Kim Seon-ho, but I forgot about that”. In addition, he also apologized to the staff and his colleagues who were affected by his scandal.

After Kim Seon-ho’s apology was issued, the news of his departure from “2 Days 1 Night” was also reported. Since the 100th episode of Season 4 is just around the corner, Kim Seon-ho’s withdrawal left regrettable feelings in many viewers. In fact, “2 Days 1 Night” is the only entertainment program that helps Kim Seon-ho rise to stardom and shows off his talents.

Prior to Kim Seon-ho‘s official departure from “2 Days 1 Night”, the production team had worried and discussed a lot. First of all, from October 19th, articles demanding Kim Sun-ho‘s withdrawal began to be uploaded in the comment section for viewers on the bulletin board of “2 Days 1 Night” website. Many people even posted similar petitions on the website of the KBS Center for Viewers’ Rights. Of course, there were people who disagreed with this. In fact, the production team didn’t issue any statement immediately but decided to wait for Kim Seon-ho‘s position. Meanwhile, after considering hard, the “least expected” decision of a withdrawal was made even though there was a rumor that the production team didn’t think about letting him go this early.

From Season 1 to Season 3, “2 Days 1 Night” has been struggling with many issues due to their cast members’ scandals. In particular, Season 3 had to end suddenly after Jung Joon-young was embroiled in a controversy over illegal filming. Since Jung Joon-young‘s scandal intertwined with many other cases, the production of “2 Days 1 Night Season 3” had to be suspended after March 10th, 2019. Until December 8th, 2019, the show was started again with a new season produced by Bang Geul Yi PD. Apart from the old member Kim Jong-min, new faces, including Yeon Jung-hoon, Moon Se-yoon, Kim Seon-ho, Din Din and Ravi, were cast.

By adding new members such as Yeon Jung-hoon, Kim Seon-ho, and Ravi who were not regularly seen in existing variety shows, the new season of “2 Days & 1 Night” became more refreshing, overcame the crisis in season 3 and has successfully captured the viewers’ attention again. Since then, “2 Days & 1 Night” has once again emerged as a well-loved reality show. Kim Seon-ho, who has shown a steady growth as an entertainment star and earned the nickname “Yeppo,” played a major role in the success of “2 Days & 1 Night” season 4. Through the show, Kim Seon-ho became more well-known to the public. He later attracted much attention as a “rising actor” thanks to his roles in the hit dramas “Start-Up” and “Hometown Cha Cha Cha“.

Therefore, “2 Days & 1 Night” poured out much support to Kim Seon-ho. When Kim Seon-ho was filming “Hometown Cha Cha Cha” in Pohang last summer, the production crew of “2 Days & 1 Night” selected an area where it was easy for him to move between the filming sites. The show’s production crew was extremely considerate of Kim Seon-ho’s schedules. The male star himself also expressed his gratitude for the support that he received from the crew of “2 Days & 1 Night”. The scene where Kim Seon-ho shouted loudly at the PD in the episode where the cast members went to a deserted island in March once sparked a controversy. However, he was only joking because the cast and crew of “2 Days & 1 Night” have a very close relationship.

Kim Seon-ho also has a great affection for “2 Days & 1 Night.” In an interview with Star News in January, he said, “I met good people through the entertainment program “2 Days & 1 Night” and we’ve grown very fond of each other. We’re having a good time as if we’re real brothers.” He also revealed that “2 Days & 1 Night” held a special place in his heart.

“2 Days & 1 Night” and Kim Seon-ho were inseparable. As a result, it must have been the most heartbreaking and difficult decision for the production team to let Kim Seon-ho leave the show. However, many netizens only argue whether they approve or oppose the decision of the production crew, without understanding it. After going through many hardships from the previous season, the cast and crew of “2 Days & 1 Night” were finally able to get the show back on track in season 4. Under the current circumstances, the filming cannot be suspended because a member got involved in a controversy. For the production crew and KBS, Kim Seon-ho‘s departure is certainly regrettable. This is because when the accusations levelled against him surfaced, a quick decision was made in response. In addition, Kim Sun-ho was cut off for the pre-broadcast shooting. He was edited out as much as possible. It would have been burdensome for “2 Days & 1 Night” to continue with a cast member getting embroiled in a scandal. Accordingly, the production crew’s decision is inevitable.

On October 29th and 30th, “2 Days & 1 Night” was filmed in Jeju Island. Except for Kim Seon-ho, who dropped out, five other members proceeded with recording, including Yeon Jung-hoon, Moon Se-yoon, DinDin, Ravi and Kim Jong-min. The production crew has reportedly worked hard to prepare for the 100th special episode. The concept, which was planned in advance, has been changed following Kim Seon-ho’s withdrawal. It would have been nice if all six members could gather together like the first filming of season 4 that took place on November 12, 2019, but it was unfortunately impossible.

In season 4, as in the previous season, in a situation where a cast member got into a controversy over his personal life, the production team had no choice but to have him removed from the show. This is an unavoidable decision because “2 Days & 1 Night” still has a long way to go. Following the impact of Kim Seon-ho‘s scandal, ‘2 Days & 1 Night’ is likely to go through a tough time.
