He shared that he got to appear in “Phantom” through a wonderful coincidence. He was the one who played the scene-stealer role in “Decision to Leave” last year.

Unlike now, Seo Hyun Woo made a strong impression on the audience with his chubby physique. He reportedly began to gain weight after hearing director Park Chan Wook’s suggestion, “I like your acting so much, but your physique is kinda a miss.”

Then, he was contacted by director Lee Hae Young while he was in the car. She said, “I have a role I want you to play, but it’s a miss that you lost so much weight these days.” Luckily, as Seo was gaining weight just in time, he got to receive the script of “Phantom” and appeared in the movie.

Seo Hyun Woo then gained a whopping 24kg for the movie. He has even cried because he was so distressed while gaining weight, but as he get older, he plans to be more careful with his health and tries to avoid rapid weight gain.
