
After BTS, this is the 2nd Kpop artist to surpass 900,000 copies on the first day’s sales
The new release of this male artist has broken multiple records and made him the best-selling soloist on the first-day sale in the history of Kpop.
Lim Young Woong is a super familiar name to the Korean audience and has earned the title “The King of Trot” in the country. Throughout his career, Lim Young Woong has shown his massive influence via record-breaking achievements.
On May 2nd, the singer dropped his new studio album “I’M HERO”, and sold over 940,000 copies in a single day. Thus, he has broken the record for first-day sales of soloists, and become the best-selling solo artist in Korea since the 2000s. Previously, this record was held by EXO’s Baekhyun, whose album “BAMBI” sold 870,000 copies on its first day in 2020.
With these numbers, Lim Young Woong has become the second Korean artist to sell more than 900,000 copies on the first day of release, following the world-famous Kpop group BTS. At the moment, in terms of first day sales on Hanteo, the soloist’s album “IM HERO” ranked 5th, after BTS’s “Map of the Soul: 7”, “Map of the Soul: Persona”, “BE”, and “Butter”.

In addition, Lim Young Woong is not only strong in physical sales, but also dominates the digital charts. His newest title “If We Ever Meet Again” is ranking high on all Korean music platforms, including Melon, Genie, Bugs, and Flo. All 12 of the artist’s new songs also surpassed 10,000 likes on Melon in just one hour after release. With all of these, Lim Young Woong’s high standing on the Korean music map is as clear as day.
