‘Affair Couple’ Hong Sang-soo and Kim Min-hee Join Forces Again
The official affair couple, Hong Sang-soo and Kim Min-hee, have been reported on recently.
On the 11th, Young Cinema Production All-in-One revealed the latest work “Suyucheon,” directed by filmmaker Hong Sang-soo (65) and starring actress Kim Min-hee (43).
This film marks Director Hong’s 32nd work and has been officially invited to compete at the 77th Locarno International Film Festival.
The Locarno Film Festival takes place annually in Locarno, Switzerland, from August 7th to 17th this year. Established in 1946, it is considered one of the world’s oldest film festivals, renowned for showcasing primarily auteur cinema.
Director Hong has been invited to Locarno before with films like “Our Sunhi,” “Right Now, Wrong Then,” and “Hotel by the River.”
Director Hong and Kim Min-hee have a significant age difference of 22 years. The two admitted to being in a relationship, describing themselves as “lovers,” during a press conference for the film “On the Beach at Night Alone” on March 13, 2017. At that time, Director Hong was married with a wife and daughter.
He subsequently failed in his divorce trial on December 5th of the same year and remains a married man, thus maintaining an extramarital affair with Kim Min-hee.
Despite attending several official events together, there have been occasions where they appeared separately, sparking rumors of a breakup. However, it appears they are still maintaining their extramarital relationship.
Last February, photos of Director Hong and Kim Min-hee on a date in Paris spread across online communities. In the photos, Kim Min-hee was seen putting a hat on Director Hong, who looked at her with a smile.
Three days before these photos were released, they appeared together at the 73rd Berlin International Film Festival.
Director Hong’s film “In the Water” was officially invited to the Encounters section, while Kim Min-hee attended as a production manager.
Director Hong and Kim Min-hee also collaborated on the film “Suyucheon.”
In stills from “Suyucheon,” Kim Min-hee wore oversized clothing but maintained her slender figure. She appeared makeup-free with a smiling face. Actor Kwon Hae-hyo also joined this new production.
