aespa recently dropped their 2nd mini album “Girls” and title song of the same name to varying receptions
At 1PM (KST) on July 8th, aespa officially came back to the Kpop race with their 2nd mini album “Girls” and the title song of the same name. In this new product, the SM girl group portrayed a more mature sound and eye-pleasing images. However, “Girls” still receives mixed reactions.
“Girls”, the title song for aespa’s grand comeback, still maintains the same intense energy level with previous songs of the group. The melody, arrangement, and instrumental is also intricate and catchy, fitting nicely with aespa’s music color. In addition, the MV of “Girls” receives a lot of praise for the movie-quality CGI, setting, and cinematography. The styling of aespa members is astounding, and fans cannot help but swoon over their visuals. However, there are still comments that Karina’s hair and styling resembles Jennie’s hime hair in “Kill This Love”.
- It deserves a Song Of The Year award
- I guess it will quickly go viral like Next Level
- I don’t really like it but since it’s aespa, this song will go viral soon
Aespa’s comeback caused a lot of controversies
Previously, SM Entertainment confirmed that the mini-album Girls had reached 1.61 million pre-orders, making aespa the K-pop girl group with the largest pre-orders to date. Regarding this achievement, aespa members can’t hide their happiness, saying: “”We were very surprised when we heard the news. We prepared for this album very hard and carefully because the fans were looking forward to it. Setting the record from the beginning was a bit overwhelming but we are very grateful and we will show better performances and music in the future.”
Currently, aespa’s comeback is still causing a lot of controversy on social networks. However, given the initial achievements, the SM girl group is able to achieve more in the future.
