Many locals and fans expressed disappointment because instead of preparing new outfits, SM made aespa wear old outfits at such an important event. Fans were also annoyed at the camera work because it kept focusing on Winter, even during other members’ singing parts.

The fact that aespa lip-synced throughout the show was the most controversial detail. According to netizens, aespa did not even pretend to sing but only danced. Meanwhile, fans explained that almost all of the artists who performed at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade lip-synced because the parade’s sound quality did not allow them to sing live.

There are also comments claiming that Savage is an inappropriate song for Thanksgiving and that SM sending aespa to perform at this event was a terrible decision.
