Following her unexpected role in ENA’s drama “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”, Park Eun-bin continued to make a shocking transformation into a diva this year. Taking on the role of Seo Mok-ha, who becomes a singer after being isolated on a desert island for 15 years, in “Castaway Diva”, Park Eun-bin increased immersion by practicing singing and performing songs herself.

Nam Goong-min always chooses the right drama

Actor Nam Goong-min confidently returned to historical dramas after a decade. Divided into 2 parts with 21 episodes, MBC’s Fri-Sat series “My Dearest” depicts the sorrowful romance of lovers and the survival of people during the Manchu War era. Playing mysterious nobleman Lee Jang-hyun, Nam Goong-min completed a heartbreaking love story with Ahn Eun-jin (as Yoo Gil-chae). Viewers were touched to see Lee Jang-hyun, who does not care about war, step forward to save Yoo Gil-chae in every critical situation.

“My Dearest” caused a syndrome and reached the highest rating record of 12.9%. With his excellent acting performance, Nam Goong-min also emerged as a prominent candidate for MBC Drama Awards’s Daesang this year.

Uhm Jung-hwa impresses as one-top lead actress

Uhm Jung-hwa received huge love and hit her heyday again after starring in “Doctor Cha”, which ended in June with the highest rating of 18.5% and became the 4th most successful drama in JTBC history. The drama revolves around the life of Cha Jung-suk (Uhm Jung-hwa), who goes against prejudice and opposition from her family to become a first-year medical resident after being a housewife for 20 years and fulfill her own dream.

Song Hye-kyo with a new face

Actress Song Hye-kyo made a grand comeback not with a melodrama character but as school violence victim Moon Dong-eun in Netflix’s original series “The Glory”. Joining hands with screenwriter Kim Eun-sook, Song Hye-kyo portrayed a satisfying revenge against the school violence perpetrators and received favorable reviews for her emotional lines and image transformation.

As a result, “The Glory” became the 3rd most-viewed drama on Netflix in the first half of 2023. Her glorious success continued as she received Daesang at the 2nd Blue Dragon Series Awards and Best Actress at the 59th Baeksang Arts Awards.
