Attention is being focused on an actor in “D.P. 2”, who recently stole the scene by playing an LGBT character.
Recently, the actor who played LGBT deserter Jang Seong Min (Nina) in season 2 of the Netflix original series “D.P.” (Deserter Pursuit) is receiving hot attention. In particular, this is none other than the musical actor Bae Na Ra, who was also a member of idol group The T-Bird.
In “D.P. 2”, Bae Na Ra transformed into Jang Seong Min, a talented actor specializing in musicals, but faces a lot of hardship due to being in the LGBT+ community and eventually makes the choice to desert the military.
So far, Bae Na Ra has received praise for delicately expressing the complex and deep inner emotions of Jang Seong Min through his acting. Additionally, he showcased remarkable singing skills by singing the musical numbers “Wig In A Box” and “Midnight Radio” from the musical “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” in the drama.
Although Bae Na Ra is gaining fame through “D.P.2”, he had previously made his name and face known through the 2020 JTBC show “Phantom Singer 3”. At that time, he made it to the 1st round of the finals, but was unfortunately eliminated with a difference of two votes. At the time, Bae Na Ra captivated the audience with his performances of “Always Remember Us This Way”, an OST from the movie “A Star Is Born”, and “Diamond”, an OST from the drama “Itaewon Class”.
Before appearing on “Phantom Singer 3”, Bae Na Ra was actively engaged as a musical actor. He majored in musical acting at the Seoul Institute of the Arts and officially started his musical acting career in 2013. He then built up his skills by participating as an ensemble member in various works, before taking on major roles.
In 2019, Bae Na Ra became a member of the project boy group The T-Bird, but the group has not been active and presumably disbanded.
Bae Na Ra, who is now receiving much attention and love through “D.P.2”, recently expressed his gratitude through his agency, saying, “I am sincerely grateful for the compliments and attention. It was an enormous honor just to be able to be a part of a work that I love so much, and I am genuinely thankful for being able to bring Jang Seong Min to life.”
