A top actress stuck in the fight between two broadcasting companies: “They shouldn’t have done this to her”

Actress Im Soo-hyang is in a difficult situation due to the overlapping airing schedule of 2 terrestrial broadcasters.

The conflict erupted recently when SBS urgently organized the new drama “From Today We,” which was scheduled to air as an OTT, as its new Monday-Tuesday drama in May.

This is because another drama starring Lim Soo-hyang, which is MBC’s “Doctor Lawyer,” is set to premiere on May 27th.

MBC’s “Doctor Lawyer” told YTN Star on April 5th, “SBS did not plan “From Today We” until recently. Actress Lim Soo-hyang has also come to work with us. When promoting and marketing, the preceding drama comes first. As a result, Lim Soo-hyang will have to attend a series of product presentations for both ‘From Today We’ and ‘Doctor Lawyer’ in May.” This insider added, “This is what they shouldn’t do to the actress.”

With the overlapping arrangement of these drama series, Lim Soo-hyang is in a situation where she has to promote both dramas at the same time in May. In other words, a fight between broadcasters will break out.

Another MBC official answered in an interview with Sports Dong-A on the same day, “It is not right for an actress to endure such a burdensome situation alone. Showing one playing two opposite characters can lead to damage to the viewers’ immersion in the dramas.”

As the controversy spread, SBS explained that it was an inevitable decision due to the production company’s situation. Initially, “Me Gustas Tu” was scheduled to air in April right after the end of the SBS Monday-Tuesday drama “Business Proposal,” but SBS says that series has been postponed to May due to its production company circumstances.

MBC’s “Doctor Lawyer” is a medical and court drama that tells the story of a genius surgeon who lost everything due to a manipulated surgery before becoming a lawyer and a prosecutor in charge of medical crimes. Actors So Ji-seop, Lim Soo-hyang and Shin Sung-rok will appear in this series.

SBS’ “Me Gustas Tu” is a remake of the popular American drama “Jane the Virgin” and is a romantic comedy drama about a story that takes place when the main character, who has sworn to remain a virgin before marriage, is pregnant with a second-generation conglomerate child due to a doctor’s mistake. Actors Sung-hoon, Lim Soo-hyang, Shin Dong-wook and Hong Ji-yoon will join in this story.
