A Small Company’s Girl Group Pleads with Fans to Buy Their Album

Netizens called for support for this girl group

Girls’ World is a rookie girl group consisting of 4 members under Liz Entertainment. The group made their first comeback with their second mini album on October 2nd. It’s known that the group’s album was exclusively sold through the company’s website, instead of being distributed in stores due to high costs. The group also rarely gets promoted on music shows. In fact, member Ara had to go on Instagram directly to urge fans to preorder the album:

Girls' World

“I confidently told the director that we would have enough preorders for 100 copies. Just 20,000 Won, can everyone work an extra 2 hours and buy the album? Please help us, I’ve bet on that third album with those 100 copies.”

“If you think I’m pretty, just one copy… I will sign it beautifully and send it to you. Please…”

“Actions speak louder than words” (with a preorder link)

“The director will organize a fan meeting if there are 50-100 people. If not, it won’t happen. From now on, I won’t talk about fan meetings and fansigns anymore. I won’t beg if there’s a third album.”

Girl’s World is a typical example of the harsh reality faced by music groups from small companies. They don’t receive the full support like their peers debuting under big companies. Netizens have called for support for the group and criticized the company for not promoting the group but continuously debuting new music groups:

  • “I’m not very interested, but I watched the MV on YouTube. Why open an entertainment company when they can’t even distribute the album? They make the members beg like this…”
  • “Even albums from bands in Hongdae can be bought online… What’s going on…”
  • “Please watch the MV at least once.”
  • “The miracles of these small companies we know before were usually from former managers with connections to TV stations or CEOs with good musical taste, so the music was well received.”
  • “There are many groups in this company… They are even preparing for the next new group…”
  • “I hope her efforts will have good results. I want to support her because she has worked hard.”
