A male idol under fire for announcing new concerts in Japan despite charges of sexual harrassment

Former B.A.P member Himchan, who received 2 sexual assault charges, enraged netizens for still daring to promote. 

Recently, Himchan, a former member of Kpop boy group B.A.P, announced that he will hold a series of concerts in Japan called “Himchan Tokyo Live Week”, from July 12th to July 24th. According to the announcement, the idol will perform twice a day, and also do online broadcast for fans around the world.

However, this move of Himchan enraged netizens, for he has previously admitted to charges of sexual assualt. In particular, he was accused of molesting a woman in her 20s in July 2018, where he forced his hand on her, and was later sentenced to 10 months in prison and 50 hours of sexual assault treatment program. Himchan then appealed against the ruling, also to acknowledge all charges in April 2022. The final court session for his crime will be conducted in August 2022.

In May 26th, the male idol once again faced a lawsuit for sexual harassment, as two women claimed he molest them at in front of a club in Yongsan-gu, Hannam-dong. His agency refuted the claim, but the women did not withdraw their case.

The fact that Himchan still planned on holding concerts in such a dire period of time has bene drawing intense criticisms from netizens, who comment things like “Whoever goes to these concerts must have some really skewed morals”.
