The amazing recent status of a famous actress who enjoyed popularity through movies “Sunny” and “Miss Granny” is a hot topic.
The famous actress, who suddenly disappeared in Korea, went to none other than Japan.
Actress Shim Eun-kyung‘s new film “7 Secretaries: The Movie” was released in Japan on Oct 7th.
This is the fourth foreign film of Shim Eun-kyung, who moved her main stage to Japan.
The story is about seven female secretaries working together to punish ugly social evils and power abuse.
Shim Eun-kyung, who was born in 1994 and is 29 years old this year, debuted at the age of 9 as Saenggaksi in “Dae Jang Geum”.
She was recognized for her solid acting skills in “Sunny” (2011) and grew into a leading actress.
In 2014, when she was 19, she received huge acclaim for her impressive comedy performance in the movie “Miss Granny”, which is considered her work of a lifetime.
Then in 2017, she started a new challenge in Japan. In 2019, when she began her acting career in Japan in earnest, she appeared in the Japanese film “The Journalist”, which helped her become the first Korean actress to win Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role at Japan Academy Prize.
Afterwards, she appeared in the movies “Blue Hour” and “A Garden of Camellias” in succession. Last year, she served as the female host of Japan Academy Prize, followed by the lead role in the public broadcasting station NHK’s drama “Guncheong Area”.
Meanwhile, on Oct 9th, Shim Eun-kyung attended the special talk event for the movie “Small, Slow But Steady” held at Busan Cinema Center in Haeundae-gu.
On this day, Shim Eun-kyung met the audience with affection for the work even though it was a movie she did not appear in.
Shim Eun-kyung explained the reason for promoting the movie, “I watched the movie twice, and it was an opportunity to think about coexistence.”
She said honestly, “It made me look back on my actions and reflect on myself. It was also an opportunity for me to pledge to live one more step as long as my heart beats.”
Fans are cheering for Shim Eun-kyung, who is active in Japan, and are looking forward to seeing her face on the domestic screen.
