A drama in which all leading actors were regrettably left empty-handed at the 2022 MBC Drama Awards
There is a lot of disappointment over the fact that all the main actors of this drama didn’t win any trophy at the 2022 MBC Drama Awards.
At the 2022 MBC Drama Awards held at MBC in Sangam-dong, Seoul on December 30th, the drama “Big Mouth” won four awards, including the Daesang (Grand Prize), Drama of the Year Award, and Top Excellence Award.
In addition, Yook Sung Jae of “Golden Spoon” won the Top Excellence Award – Actor. Park Joo Hyun and Kim Young Dae of “The Forbidden Marriage” won the Excellence Award.
Lee Chang Hoon of “Tracer”, which aired in January of this year, received the Best Supporting Actor award, making it the only award “Tracer” received last night. Im Si Wan, who played the main character in “Tracer”, was nominated for the Top Excellence Award, but failed to win.
“Tracer”, aired as a follow-up to “The Red Sleeve”, is a suspenseful and thrilling action drama depicting the reckless activities of a vicious guy who rolled into the 5th Bureau of Taxation of the National Tax Service, also known as the ‘garbage dump’. Im Si Wan, Go Ah Sung, Son Hyun Joo, and Park Yong Woo took on the lead roles.
Despite the pre-release on Wavve, “Tracer” showed a good start by taking first place on the Friday and Saturday time slot from its premiere. However, the drama later faced a crisis as it was canceled consecutively due to the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics relay broadcasts, presidential candidate invitation debates, and Uljin forest fire news reports.
“Tracer” ended successfully after airing the last episode in March and recorded its highest viewer rating of 9% (based on Nielsen Korea data). The four leading actors Im Si Wan, Son Hyun Joo, Park Young Woo and Go Ah Sung especially received favorable reviews.
Viewers expressed disappointment regarding the news of “Tracer” main cast not getting any awards. Netizens on the online community theqoo commented, “The drama was very interesting, the actors also acted well but…”, “I felt bad for ‘Tracer’ actors. Its ratings even ranked 2nd place…”, “I enjoyed this drama the most among MBC releases this year. Too bad”, “How could MBC neglect them… It’s too bad”, “It’s my one pick on MBC this year”, “What? The 2022 MBC Drama Awards was said to be an “empty” awards ceremony due to the absence of many actors, such as “Tracer” Im Si Wan and Go Ah Sung, “Tomorrow” Kim Hee Sun and Ro Woon, “From Now On, Showtime!” Park Hae Jin and Jin Ki Joo, “Doctor Lawyer” So Ji Sub and Im Soo Hyang.
