Fans spotted references to previous MVs in BLACKPINK’s latest MV for “Shut Down”.
At 1PM KST on September 16, BLACKPINK finally dropped their latest MV for the title track “Shut Down”, making a mark of its own through the assemblage of the old and the new. The MV is integrated with references to BLACKPINK’s previous songs such as “Boombayah”, “Crazy Over You”, “Playing With Fire”, “DDU-DU DDU-DU”, “Ice Cream”, “How You Like That”, “Pretty Savage”, “Pink Venom”, “Lalisa”, “Sour Candy”, “Gone”, “Solo”, “As If It’s Your Last”, “Whistle”, “Hope Not” and “Money”.
Fans once again heard their nostalgic catchphrase “BLACKPINK in your area” with the last time the phrase being included in a BLACKPINK’s song was in “How You Like That”. Lyrics of previous songs such as “Ice Cream” and “PINK VENOM” were also printed and glued on the walls.
The members also re-enacted some iconic scenes from “Whistle”, “Kill This Love”, “DDU-DU DDU-DU”, “Playing With Fire” and “As If It’s Your Last” MVs. While incorporating the former releases, BLACKPINK presents a more refined and matured version of themselves, rather than a direct copy. The dramatic but alluring melodies of the violin complemented the elegance of “Shut Down”.
Currently, BLACKPINK is in the US to promote “BORN PINK” and ”Shut Down”. The group is scheduled to appear on Jimmy Kimmel on September 19, at 2:30 PM (PT). With the heat rising for the group’s comeback, BLACKPINK is on their way for another series of new achievements.
