On July 23, Nam Joo-hyuk’s agency confirmed that the actor will star in Heartbeat, a new romance drama written by Lee Si-eun, the screenwriter behind the hit series True Beauty and Lovely Runner.
The announcement comes as Nam Joo-hyuk continues his busy comeback following military service. He recently returned to the spotlight with Netflix’s fantasy historical drama The East Palace and was also confirmed earlier the same day to join the upcoming Disney+ original series Code.
Han So-hee has not yet officially joined the project. Her agency stated that Heartbeat is one of the projects she has received and is reviewing positively. Should she accept the role, viewers will see Nam Joo-hyuk and Han So-hee share the screen for the first time.

Heartbeat tells the story of a woman who can see the past and a man who must keep his own past hidden. Nam Joo-hyuk will play the male lead, a mysterious man who bears an uncanny resemblance to the heroine’s deceased first love, setting the stage for an emotional and supernatural romance. Han So-hee has been offered the role of the female protagonist, a woman gifted with the ability to see people’s pasts.
The drama is the latest work from writer Lee Si-eun, whose previous projects include the popular romance dramas True Beauty and Lovely Runner. Given Lee Si-eun’s track record of blending heartfelt romance with fantasy elements, Heartbeat is already generating considerable anticipation among K-drama fans.
Production is expected to begin later this year after the casting process is finalized. With Nam Joo-hyuk officially attached and Han So-hee in discussions to join the cast, Heartbeat is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated Korean romance dramas currently in development.
