On July 16, actress Ryu Hye Young uploaded a YouTube Shorts video titled “The Truth About Dieting?”

Addressing comments about her lean physique, she firmly denied that her appearance was the result of weight loss. “I’ve never been on a diet, and I haven’t actually lost weight. I haven’t dieted since I was 25.”

Ryu Hye Young explained that the change in her appearance was largely due to natural aging and a different exercise routine. According to the actress, the baby fat on her face and body gradually disappeared over time.

She also said switching to a new trainer made a noticeable difference. “I’ve always exercised, but after changing instructors, I focused heavily on posture correction.” She believes that improved posture and muscle alignment have made her body look slimmer than before.

Ryu Hye Young emphasized that her actual weight has remained remarkably consistent. “My weight really hasn’t changed. For the past 10 years, it’s always fluctuated within one or two kilograms.” She joked that the video was less of a behind-the-scenes story and more of a “time to clear things up.”

Ryu Hye Young rose to prominence in 2015 after portraying Sung Bo Ra, the older sister of Hyeri’s character, in the hit tvN drama Reply 1988. More recently, she gained renewed attention after appearing on MBC’s reality show I Live Alone (Home Alone).

During the program, the actress also opened up about the pressure that came with her growing popularity. She admitted that after Reply 1988 became a massive success, she realized her words carried greater influence, making her more cautious in public and in social situations.

Ryu Hye Young added that she still struggles with anxiety, revealing that she often keeps her curtains closed because of those lingering feelings.
