A YouTuber with more than 360,000 subscribers has publicly apologized after receiving widespread criticism for visiting BLACKPINK Jennie’s agency in an attempt to fulfill a personal bucket list goal.

Content creator Potato Turtle (real name Song Ji Yoon) posted an apology on social media on July 14 after many online users accused her actions of crossing personal boundaries and resembling sasaeng behavior.

In her statement, Potato Turtle apologized to everyone who felt uncomfortable after watching her video. “I sincerely apologize to everyone who felt uncomfortable because of the video I uploaded. I read every comment one by one and have been deeply reflecting on my careless actions.”

She explained that her content series revolves around completing 100 bucket list challenges, including ambitious goals that seem nearly impossible. One of those challenges was “Having a cup of coffee with Jennie.”

According to Potato Turtle, the goal was never based on the expectation that she would actually meet the BLACKPINK member. “I wanted to challenge something that seemed impossible. I wanted to knock on a door and find my own way.”

As part of the challenge, Potato Turtle visited OA Entertainment (Odd Atelier), Jennie’s agency located in Hannam-dong, Seoul. She rang the company’s doorbell and asked a staff member to deliver a handwritten letter and bouquet of flowers to Jennie. After the video spread online, however, many viewers criticized the approach as invasive, arguing that unexpectedly visiting an artist’s workplace crossed acceptable boundaries.

Responding to the criticism, Potato Turtle admitted she had failed to recognize how her actions could be perceived. “I didn’t realize that visiting the company without an appointment and delivering a letter and flowers could be seen as sasaeng behavior.” She added: “I simply wanted to express my sincerity, but my method was wrong.”

The agency visit wasn’t the only action that drew attention. Potato Turtle had also attended an outdoor concert holding a large sign reading: “Jennie unnie, would you like to have coffee with me?” Addressing that incident, she explained that it was her first time attending a concert and that she was unfamiliar with fan etiquette. She promised to respect concert culture and avoid repeating similar mistakes in the future.

Potato Turtle rejected accusations that she was exploiting Jennie for online views. She emphasized that her intentions came from genuine admiration rather than a desire to create viral content. “It’s not true that I tried to use Jennie for content. I simply wanted to express my sincerity as a fan.” She concluded by saying the controversy had become an opportunity for self-reflection and that she would strive to become “a better person.”

Potato Turtle has built her YouTube channel around completing 100 life bucket list challenges, with meeting Jennie becoming the 85th challenge in the series. After she uploaded footage of herself visiting OA Entertainment, many online users criticized the video, with comments describing the behavior as inappropriate and warning that it could encourage others to imitate similar actions. Following the backlash, the video was eventually set to private, while Potato Turtle issued her public apology.
