Ji Sung made his first appearance as former illegal gambling boss Park Hae Gang in JTBC’s new weekend drama The Apartment Job, which premiered on July 11.

From a cozy ivory knit sweater to a sleek black tuxedo, Ji Sung effortlessly pulled off a range of styles throughout the episode. His sharp jawline, striking facial features, intense gaze, and remarkably youthful appearance immediately stood out, giving him an undeniable screen presence from the moment he appeared.
His serious expressions and charismatic performance quickly drew viewers into the story. Even while portraying a rough and hardened character, Ji Sung maintained his signature gentle aura, prompting many fans to comment, “As expected, it’s Ji Sung.”

In the drama, Park Hae Gang loses everything because of the corruption and abuse of powerful figures. Desperate to save his father figure, Park Yong Man (Jung Jin Young), he must somehow raise 10 billion won. After exhausting all of his assets, he embarks on a dangerous new mission to uncover a hidden fortune concealed inside the massive 9,800-unit apartment complex known as True Value State.
The episode ended with the line, "You mean we can pull off a 10-billion-won score?" teasing the beginning of an even bigger scheme. Its fast-paced storytelling and suspenseful plot left viewers eager for the next episode.
Following the broadcast, online communities and social media were flooded with praise for Ji Sung's appearance. Comments included, "I can't believe he's 50," "His face alone carries the drama," "How does Ji Sung never age?" The drama itself also got off to a strong start. Episode 1 of The Apartment Job recorded a peak metropolitan rating of 6.3% and a nationwide rating of 4.6%, making it the highest-rated non-terrestrial TV drama in its premiere time slot. It also surpassed the premiere ratings of its predecessor, Reborn Rookie, signaling a promising start.
Born in 1977, Ji Sung debuted in the 1999 drama KAIST before establishing himself as one of South Korea’s leading actors through hit series including All In, New Heart, Protect the Boss, Kill Me, Heal Me, and Innocent Defendant. He married actress Lee Bo Young in 2013, and the couple has a son and a daughter.
