Galaxy Corporation, which had remained tight-lipped about reports linking actors Ryu Jun Yeol and Yoo Ah In to the agency, has finally confirmed that it signed an exclusive contract with Ryu Jun Yeol. The company even went a step further by requesting media outlets to “publish the news immediately after receiving the press release.” The question is what made them so eager?

On July 1, Galaxy Corporation announced, “We have signed an exclusive contract with actor Ryu Jun Yeol. We will fully support every aspect of his career so that his exceptional acting talent and artistic capabilities can shine even brighter on the global stage.”

Rumors about Ryu Jun Yeol’s transfer first surfaced on June 29. At the time, reports claimed that the actor had left his former agency UAA and was in discussions with Galaxy Corporation. However, Galaxy Corporation refused to comment. A senior executive reportedly ignored confirmation calls from reporters and did not respond to text messages, maintaining a passive attitude toward the media.

Just three days later, the company completely changed its stance. Along with several paragraphs praising itself as an “AI entertainment technology company,” Galaxy Corporation officially distributed a press release confirming that it had signed an exclusive contract with Ryu Jun Yeol. It even included a request stating, “Please publish immediately after distribution.”

The company added, “Ryu Jun Yeol is one of South Korea’s representative actors, possessing both critical acclaim and mainstream popularity.” It also quoted Galaxy Corporation Chief Happiness Officer (CHO) Choi Yong Ho, who said, “By combining physical AI technology with creative content, we will expand Ryu Jun Yeol’s new possibilities into the global market.”

The contrast drew attention, as the company had refused to answer repeated media inquiries only days earlier but was now eager to promote itself through a one-sided press release while requesting immediate coverage.

Ryu Jun Yeol made his acting debut in 2015 with the film Socialphobia. He later rose to nationwide fame through the hit drama Reply 1988 and has since appeared in successful films including The King, A Taxi Driver, Believer, Money, and The Night Owl. He is currently awaiting the release of the Netflix series Mousetrap.

His career has not only attracted attention for his acting projects but also for his personal life. In November 2024, Ryu Jun Yeol ended his seven-year public relationship with Hyeri. Shortly afterward, he was spotted in Hawaii with Han So Hee, and the two confirmed they were dating. However, allegations of an overlapping relationship quickly spread online. After just about two weeks of public scrutiny, the couple announced their breakup, drawing widespread attention across the entertainment industry.
