On June 22, Ji Yeon Soo launched her new YouTube channel, “Ji Yeon Soo’s Yeonsooropta,” and uploaded its first video titled, “What Do I Think About Remarriage? Ji Yeon Soo’s Honest Feelings.”
Coincidentally, the news of Eli’s remarriage broke the day before filming began. Addressing the timing, Ji Yeon Soo clarified, “Our first shoot was scheduled for today, but we had actually been preparing this project since November of last year. Please don’t misunderstand. I didn’t start this channel because of that news. I’ve been working and doing part-time jobs, and we originally planned to film my daily life. Everyone was busy, so the schedule got delayed, and it just happened that the remarriage article came out yesterday.”
She then shared her honest reaction, saying, “I’m very happy for him. Congratulations, really. But does my opinion even matter? Honestly?”
Reporter Yoo Soo Kyung, who is also one of Ji Yeon Soo’s close friends, commented, “I found out after Eli posted about getting married on social media. Seeing the articles appear gave me a strange feeling because we appeared together on ‘We Got Divorced 2,’ met often, and I even visited his house.” Ji Yeon Soo jokingly responded, “Forget about it,” drawing laughter.
When asked how she felt about the news, Ji Yeon Soo revealed, “I already knew he was getting married. I just didn’t know exactly when. My biggest concern was, ‘Minsoo has school tomorrow.’ That was honestly my first thought. Some parents at his school know who his father is, and I worried that he might hear something from other children and get hurt.”
She continued, “After I took care of Minsoo and put him to bed, I looked at everything properly. I saw clips circulating online from when we were on ‘We Got Divorced 2.’ Apparently, there was a moment where he said he wouldn’t remarry, and people were saying, ‘He said he wouldn’t remarry.’ But he’s still in his 30s. He’s at an age where he can get married again, have children, and live his life. I feel like I found happiness first. Honestly, I love living with Minsoo, just the two of us. I think he’s simply finding his own happiness a little later than I did.”
Reporter Yoo Soo Kyung added, “She was very calm. She said she hopes he lives well and is happy.”
Ji Yeon Soo explained, “I’m an ISTP. I’m very realistic and focused on what’s directly in front of me. My number one priority is Minsoo. If it doesn’t involve him, it’s not that big of a deal to me. Even if the universe exploded, Minsoo falling down would be a bigger issue in my eyes. So my reaction was simply, ‘Oh, he’s getting married.’”
When asked whether Minsoo was aware of the remarriage, Ji Yeon Soo replied, “Yes, he knows. We congratulated him.”
She then added frankly, “What else were we supposed to do if we didn’t congratulate him?”
Ji Yeon Soo also expressed genuine support for Eli’s new chapter in life. “It must be difficult for him. Our marriage and divorce were both very public. Since he made this decision, I sincerely hope everything goes well for him and that he finds happiness.”
Ji Yeon Soo married U-KISS member Eli in 2014, and the couple welcomed a son, Minsoo. They divorced in November 2020, and Ji Yeon Soo has since been raising their son on her own. Earlier this month, Eli personally announced his remarriage through a social media post, drawing significant public attention.
