On June 19, a new video was uploaded to Jo Jung Suk’s YouTube channel, documenting his visit to Banghwa-dong in Seoul’s Gangseo District, the neighborhood where he grew up. As he revisited places filled with childhood memories, the actor shared several stories from his younger years.
While reminiscing about old friends at a local café, Jo Jung Suk brought up a girlfriend he dated during middle school.
“I had a girlfriend when I was in middle school,” he recalled. “Back then, it was the kind of age where you’d get nervous just wondering if your hands might accidentally touch while walking to buy tteokbokki together.”
He then revealed a surprising story about reconnecting with his first love years later in a completely unexpected setting.
“One day, I was chatting with friends at a café when a family walked in,” he said. “It turned out to be the girl I had dated in middle school.”
Jo Jung Suk explained that his former girlfriend arrived with both her husband and child.
“She came with her husband and their child, and the funny thing was that I knew her husband too,” he shared. “We had attended the same church in the past, and he was actually someone she had introduced me to.”
Reflecting on the encounter, the actor admitted he was amazed by the coincidence.
“It had been such a long time since we last saw each other, so it felt incredibly surreal,” he said. “It remains a very memorable and heartwarming moment for me.”
He jokingly added, “Part of me wonders if I might run into her again today,” drawing laughter as he playfully expressed his desire for more content for the video.
Meanwhile, Jo Jung Suk married singer Gummy in 2018. The couple now shares two daughters and is widely regarded as one of South Korea’s most beloved celebrity families.
