TVB actor Joe Ma has sparked concern after revealing that he was urgently hospitalized due to a serious health issue affecting his leg.
According to Sinchew, the actor recently shared photos from the hospital on social media, showing himself lying in a hospital bed wearing a patient gown. An IV was attached to his left wrist, while his right leg, from the knee down, appeared heavily bandaged. The Life on the Line star explained that he had been admitted for emergency treatment after suffering severe inflammation and swelling stretching from his knee to his ankle.
Following his admission, doctors reportedly had to drain accumulated fluid from his leg. The treatment process proved extremely painful for the veteran actor. At present, Joe Ma said he is barely able to walk normally and has been forced to pause all work commitments.
“Life is full of first experiences. The pain started from my knee all the way down to my ankle. My entire leg became severely inflamed and swollen, and I even had to undergo fluid drainage. Walking has become extremely difficult it’s truly agonizing. I’ve never experienced anything like this before,” Joe Ma shared.
The actor’s update quickly drew widespread attention online. Many fellow celebrities and fans flooded the comments section with messages of support and concern, wishing him a speedy recovery.
Born in 1968, Joe Ma first gained recognition for his charming visuals and towering height of 1.86 meters. However, during the early stages of his entertainment career, he was often cast in supporting roles before eventually rising to prominence through popular TVB dramas such as Triumph in the Skies, Maiden’s Vow, and Tiger Cubs. Joe Ma has been married to Cheung Siu Lan since 1993.
