Television personality Hong Seok Cheon has publicly expressed anger and concern following reports of a drug-related tragedy involving a group within the LGBTQ+ community.
On June 5, Hong Seok Cheon shared his reaction to a news report about a drug party that allegedly took place at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur. According to reports, one participant reportedly died from drug-related complications, while 51 others were arrested during the incident.
Responding to the article on social media, Hong Seok Cheon wrote, “I clearly told you not to do this.” He followed up with another message urging caution, saying, “Everyone, wake up. Absolutely no drugs!! Please stay safe and have fun responsibly.”

The broadcaster also expressed frustration over another controversial post discussing anti-discrimination laws and perceptions of homosexuality. Reacting to a statement claiming that accepting homosexuality leads to an unhappy life, Hong Seok Cheon criticized the viewpoint, writing, “What can you do when ignorant people are overly confident?”
Hong Seok Cheon made history in September 2000 as the first South Korean celebrity to publicly come out as gay. At the time, he explained that his decision came from a desire to be honest with the person he loved and to live more happily and authentically. Since then, he has remained active across entertainment, television, and the restaurant business while continuing to advocate for openness and acceptance.
