On Netflix’s variety show “Jae Seok’s B&B Rules!”, which released all episodes on June 2, Yoo Jae Suk opened up about his personal rules and daily self-care habits. During the episode, he gave honest advice to Ji Ye Eun, who previously battled thyroid cancer.
While grilling meat, Ji Ye Eun said she liked a certain sauce and joked that she had “a child’s taste.” Yoo Jae Suk responded: “Your taste may be like a child’s, but your health is no longer like a child’s. Be careful.” He then shared that he also loves sweet foods but now holds himself back. “I really like sweet things too. But I hold back. In the past, I used to eat a whole cake. But you have to say goodbye to the things you like.”

When Ji Ye Eun said she felt like crying, Yoo Jae Suk added: “Every time the first digit of your age changes, you have to let go of one thing.” Lee Kwang Soo, who was also present, agreed and recalled that even 10 years ago, Yoo Jae Suk had said he needed to cut back on coffee.
Yoo Jae Suk confirmed it, saying: “That’s right. When I reached my late 30s, I quit smoking.” He continued: “At some point, I realized, ‘Ah, this is how I have to say goodbye to the things I like.’ I think we let go of things one by one as we live.”

Meanwhile, Ji Ye Eun temporarily halted activities last August due to health issues. At the time, her exact condition was not revealed. However, in “Jae Seok’s B&B Rules!”, she shared that she had battled thyroid cancer. She said she had recovered a lot and felt grateful, explaining that doctors told her even a 0.1 cm tumor could spread, but in her case, there had been quite a lot of cancer.
Yoo Jae Suk’s words resonated with viewers because they were not dramatic but deeply realistic: as people age, taking care of health sometimes means learning to part with the things they love most.
