lee jun young ukiss struggles

On the May 31 episode of JTBC’s “Please Take Care of My Refrigerator,” actors Shin Ye Eun and Lee Jun Young appeared together as guests and showcased their witty chemistry. Known for having an INFP personality type, Lee Jun Young is widely recognized in the entertainment industry as an introvert.

When the MCs asked whether his introverted personality had made idol activities difficult, Lee Jun Young immediately responded, “It was really hard,” as he reflected on his early career. Having debuted as a member of U-KISS in 2014, he explained that the industry trend at the time favored “cute, healthy, and cheerful youngest members.” He admitted feeling burdened by having to portray an image that was completely different from his true personality.

However, he revealed that performing on stage was one of the few situations where he could endure the pressure because he was able to immerse himself in the music. “The stage itself was actually okay because I could focus on the songs,” he said. He then surprised viewers by adding, “When I performed, I often looked at the emergency exits. They were the easiest thing to see from the stage.”

According to Lee Jun Young, focusing his gaze on the emergency exits helped him regain a sense of calm whenever he felt emotionally overwhelmed. Hearing this, Ahn Jung Hwan and Kim Sung Joo jokingly remarked, “Did it make you feel secure because you knew where the way out was? So if anything happened, you could just leave?” Their playful comments drew laughter from the studio.

The hosts continued teasing him, asking, “You must have worked up a lot of courage to come here today. Did you look for the emergency exits in this studio too?” Lee Jun Young quickly replied, “Actually, I checked as soon as I arrived, but there weren’t any,” earning another round of laughter with his witty response.

He also shared an amusing incident caused by his shyness. In the past, Lee Jun Young abruptly ended a live broadcast after suddenly stopping communication with viewers, leaving fans confused and concerned.

Explaining the situation, he said, “Far more viewers joined than usual, and I panicked. I was worried I might say something wrong, so I just turned it off. People probably thought something serious had happened.” He added that he has since developed a personal strategy to cope with the pressure: “Now I’m a bit more used to it, so I simply don’t look at the viewer count displayed at the top of the screen.”

Lee Jun Young first gained attention as an actor through the 2017 tvN drama “Avengers Social Club.” Since then, he has built a solid filmography with standout performances in “D.P.,” “The Impossible Heir,” and “Dreaming of a Freaking Fairy Tale,” among other projects.

Last month, during an interview with a media outlet, Lee Jun Young also announced his retirement from solo singing activities, signaling his intention to focus more heavily on his acting career moving forward.
