On May 28, Day6‘s Dowoon shared a message through his official Instagram account, marking his first direct statement regarding the dating and marriage rumors linking him to YouTuber Yoo Jiyoo.
He wrote: “Our team will never disappear, no matter what. I’m not going anywhere, so don’t even look at the negative posts for now. Even if you see posts about me, just ignore them. I’m sorry for hurting you guys. Just wait a little longer.”
Fans interpreted the message as reassurance that he would not leave DAY6 and that the group would not disband due to the ongoing rumors.
Earlier on May 26, JYP Entertainment briefly addressed the rumors by telling media outlets that the company had “no official statement” regarding Dowoon’s alleged marriage plans.
After remaining silent for nearly two days, Dowoon unexpectedly posted his message around 3 a.m., directly calming concerns among fans who feared the rumors could affect the group’s future.
Additional rumors spread after viewers noticed similarities between items introduced on Dowoon’s personal YouTube channel and accessories used by Yoo Jiyoo.
Among the details discussed online were: matching perfumes, similar couple doll keyrings and overlapping lifestyle items.
The rumors escalated further after alleged eyewitness accounts surfaced online claiming Dowoon and Yoo Jiyoo had recently visited a wedding planner together, fueling marriage speculation.
Born in 1995, Dowoon debuted in 2015 as the drummer of DAY6 under JYP Entertainment.
Meanwhile, Yoo Jiyoo, born in 1996, runs the personal YouTube channel “Jiyurobge,” which currently has around 198,000 subscribers. She is also known as the younger sister of popular YouTuber Yoo Hye-joo.
