Winwin is drawing explosive attention for his breakout acting performance in the hit Chinese historical drama Liang Chen Mei Jin.
The series has maintained the No.1 spot on MyVideo’s drama rankings for three consecutive weeks, but one of the biggest surprises has been the overwhelming response to Winwin’s portrayal of nobleman Ye Xian.
Originally known as a member of NCT under SM Entertainment, Winwin has stunned viewers with both his visuals and emotional acting range.
His sharp phoenix eyes, elegant facial structure, and aristocratic aura in traditional costume have even earned him the nickname “a man born for historical dramas” among Chinese netizens.
Some viewers compared his appearance to characters from the classic Chinese novel Dream of the Red Chamber, saying he looks like a refined nobleman straight out of ancient literature.
During a recent fan event in Shanghai, Winwin humorously reacted to the praise by saying: “I want to continue trying more great historical drama roles. I can keep filming them until I’m 50.”
One scene in particular has gone viral across Chinese social media platforms.
In the emotional sequence, Ye Xian attempts to defend and protect Gu Jinzhao, played by Ren Min, by confronting her gambling-addicted younger brother. However, his actions only create misunderstanding and distance between the two characters.
Viewers became especially emotional during a close-up moment where Winwin silently fights back tears before a single tear rolls down his face.
The subtle expression immediately exploded online, with fans praising the scene as “career-defining.”
One viral comment read: “That single tear deserves an award.”
Others praised how Winwin conveyed regret, restraint, heartbreak, and self-mockery purely through his eyes and facial expressions without exaggerated dialogue.
Interestingly, Winwin and Ren Min reportedly share a real-life friendship dating back to childhood.
According to Ren Min, the two attended the same dance school when they were around 10 years old and even studied at the same English academy before later enrolling in both the affiliated middle school of Beijing Dance Academy and Central Academy of Drama.
Fans believe this long history helped create the natural chemistry seen onscreen.
Winwin officially expanded into acting in 2023 after years of idol activities with NCT. However, many viewers now say his performance in Liang Chen Mei Jin has completely changed public perception of him.
