According to reports from the San Francisco Chronicle, SUGA participated in the famous “Bay to Breakers” race on May 17 (local time), drawing major attention from both fans and local media.

The Bay to Breakers event is one of San Francisco’s most iconic long-distance races, first established in 1912. The 12km course is known for its steep hills and difficult terrain stretching across the city.

Reports stated that SUGA completed the race with a time of 1 hour, 4 minutes, and 43 seconds, averaging an 8-minute-41-second pace per mile.

Out of 20,530 participants, he reportedly ranked 1,022nd overall, placing him within the top 5% of runners — a result that surprised many fans online.

What stunned fans even more was that SUGA reportedly headed straight to perform at BTS’ concert at Stanford Stadium later that evening after finishing the marathon.

Although he delivered an energetic performance on stage, some fans noticed that he appeared to experience discomfort in his legs toward the end of the concert.

The reason was later revealed during a livestream on Weverse, where BTS members shared behind-the-scenes stories about SUGA’s intense running routine.

V explained during the livestream: “Yoongi hyung said he wanted to lose weight, so he started running really hard. He was running 10km every day.”

Meanwhile, Jimin added: “He woke up at 6 a.m. on the day of the concert to participate in the famous marathon. Before the encore stage, his calves were so swollen that he was limping. We were really worried.”

Following the news, fans flooded social media with admiration for SUGA’s discipline and stamina, praising his ability to complete a difficult race and still perform a full stadium concert afterward.

Many also expressed concern for his health while applauding his commitment to both fitness and performance preparation.

The story quickly went viral among ARMYs worldwide, with fans calling the achievement “peak Min Yoongi behavior.”
