FIFA is reportedly preparing one of the biggest entertainment spectacles in sports history, and BTS is already at the center of global attention.
During a recent press event in New York unveiling new details about the first-ever halftime show in FIFA World Cup history, FIFA President Gianni Infantino allegedly described Madonna, Shakira, and BTS as “global icons” whose music transcends generations and borders.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup final is scheduled to take place on July 19, 2026, at MetLife Stadium. Unlike previous tournaments, FIFA is introducing a Super Bowl-style halftime performance for the very first time, signaling a major shift in how the organization blends sports and entertainment on a worldwide scale.
According to reports, the halftime stage was originally inspired by Chris Martin, who is serving as the event’s music director. The Coldplay frontman is expected to help connect the different musical identities of the featured performers, ranging from K-pop and Latin music to classic Western pop.

Meanwhile, Shakira also attended the event and reportedly introduced Dai Dai, her exclusive song created for the 2026 World Cup. The singer shared that the track carries a message encouraging children to never give up on their dreams. She additionally pledged to donate digital music revenue from the song, alongside part of her upcoming U.S. tour profits, to FIFA’s global education initiative.
However, much of the online excitement has centered around BTS.
Fans worldwide are especially anticipating the group’s rumored appearance at the World Cup final halftime show. The event could mark the first time all members of BTS participate together in a global sports ceremony of this scale. Many fans still remember Jung Kook’s successful solo performance during the opening ceremony of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, which became one of the tournament’s most talked-about musical moments.

Now, with FIFA allegedly placing BTS alongside legendary performers like Madonna and Shakira, many fans view the recognition as another sign of the group’s massive cultural influence beyond the music industry.
The potential collaboration between BTS and Coldplay is also generating major buzz online. Following the worldwide success of My Universe, fans believe the artistic chemistry between the two acts could lead to another unforgettable stage performance.
In addition to the halftime show, FIFA has reportedly teased an ambitious opening ceremony lineup across host countries including the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Artists rumored or confirmed to participate include Katy Perry, Lisa, Michael Bublé, Tyla, Future, and Anitta.
As anticipation continues to grow, fans are already predicting that the 2026 FIFA World Cup could become one of the most globally watched music events ever staged.
