Tan Songyun has revealed previously undisclosed details about a serious on-set injury that led to her unexpected absence from a past production.

The actress, known for her performances in dramas such as The Whirlwind Girl, The Fox’s Summer, and Go Ahead, addressed the incident during her guest appearance on the reality program Dear Inn 2026.

During the episode, a fellow cast member noticed a visible scar on Tan Songyun’s upper lip and asked about its origin. In response, Tan Songyun revealed for the first time that she had suffered a severe accident while filming on set.

According to her account, the injury was so serious that part of her upper lip was torn during filming. Medical professionals reportedly warned that if the damage had been slightly worse, she would have required extensive reconstructive surgery.

Doctors were able to carefully stitch her lip back in place, but the recovery process was extremely difficult.

Tan Songyun explained that during her healing period, she was unable to speak properly, had trouble eating, and was forced to step away from filming to recover.

While she did not specify the exact timeline of the incident, it is widely believed that the injury occurred during production of the 2024 C-drama As Beautiful As You.

At the time, rumors circulated suggesting her absence was related to disputes over production billing, but her recent revelation has clarified that the hiatus was due to medical reasons.

Despite the severity of the injury and its impact on her work, Tan Songyun appeared calm when reflecting on the experience.

“It’s all in the past. I don’t really care anymore,” she said, downplaying the long-term emotional impact of the incident.

Following the broadcast, fans expressed both shock and sympathy, praising her resilience and professionalism in continuing her career after such a traumatic injury.

Many also revisited her earlier works, expressing renewed appreciation for her performances given the challenges she has endured behind the scenes.

The revelation has since sparked wider discussion about safety conditions on film sets and the physical risks actors sometimes face during production.
