On the April 27 broadcast of SBS Radio’s Cultwo Show, which was celebrating its 20th anniversary special week, Cha Seung Won appeared as the first special DJ. During the show, he revealed an unexpected fact that contrasted with his well-known image of strict self-care—if he doesn’t shave, his facial hair grows all the way up under his eyes. Jokingly, he said, “When I saw my beard covering my entire face, I even wondered if it was some kind of chronic condition,” drawing laughter from the studio.

What stood out even more was his natural acceptance of aging. Explaining why he no longer grows out his beard like he used to, he admitted, “It’s because white hair has started to grow now.” He added, “If I don’t dye it, I’m completely gray.” Despite this, he expressed a hopeful outlook as an actor, saying that if the right role comes along, he would like to embrace his natural white hair and beard to portray a character with a grandfatherly charm.

Cha Seung Won also shared a humorous behind-the-scenes story, revealing that he only found out he was appearing as a special DJ through news articles. “Kim Tae Gyun asked me to come on, so I thought I’d just chat for about an hour, but suddenly I became the DJ,” he said, adding that even his manager hadn’t been fully aware of the situation, which amused listeners.

Despite the unexpected circumstances, he demonstrated his veteran experience by recalling his past as a radio DJ in 1997. He reminisced about handling more than ten schedules a day while hosting radio shows during his early career. Reflecting on the challenge, he commented, “Hosting radio isn’t easy,” while also expressing admiration for longtime DJ Kim Tae Gyun.

Meanwhile, Cha Seung Won married a non-celebrity woman four years his senior in 1992, and the couple has a son and a daughter. His eldest son, Cha No-ah, a former professional gamer, was later revealed to be his wife’s child from a previous marriage.
