On April 24, SM Entertainment announced through Weverse, “Our exclusive contract with Lucas has ended as of April 24.”

The agency added, “We will cherish the time we spent together with Lucas—from his trainee days to his debut and various activities—and we sincerely support his new journey and future challenges.”

Lucas debuted in 2018 as part of NCT U and went on to promote with WayV and SuperM. However, he halted activities following personal life controversies raised by a former partner. In 2023, he officially left both NCT and WayV.
The following year, Lucas returned as a solo artist with his first single Renegade, marking a fresh start in his career.
