In episodes 1 and 2 of the SBS Wednesday-Thursday drama Sold Out on You, which aired on April 22 and 23, Kim Bum plays Seo Eric, the executive director of global skincare brand L’Étoile. From his striking visuals to his nuanced emotional performance, he left a powerful first impression and elevated the charm of his character.
Eric experiences a dynamic first encounter with Dam Ye Jin (played by Chae Won Bin). Upon hearing that Ye Jin, a show host from “Hit,” requested a meeting, Eric lights up with excitement and eagerly suggests meeting as soon as possible. Three years earlier, he had fallen in love at first sight when Ye Jin asked where he bought his umbrella. Believing in fate, he set a lunch date without even specifying a time but after waiting all day, she never showed up, forcing him to return to France.

When he finally gets another chance to meet her, Eric carefully adjusts his outfit, unable to hide his excitement. As soon as Ye Jin appears, he warmly waves at her, but when she greets him formally as if they’ve never met, his disappointment is clear. He even tries to jog her memory by playfully messing up his hair, hoping she will recognize him.
Later, while reminiscing about their first meeting, Eric hears Chief Cha (played by Kim Joong Don) say that she was not his destiny. With a determined look, Eric responds, “This time, I’ll make it destiny,” raising anticipation for his next move.

From the very beginning of Sold Out on You, Kim Bum has fully satisfied fans who have long awaited his return to the romance genre. From his bright hair color to his polished styling, he perfectly embodies a “rom-com-optimized” visual. At the same time, he conveys Eric’s feelings for Ye Jin through trembling eyes and subtle smiles, heightening viewers’ excitement. As Eric begins to actively pursue Ye Jin, attention is focused on how Kim Bum will continue to develop the character.
Alongside Kim Bum, the drama also stars Ahn Hyo Seop, Chae Won Bin, and Go Doo Shim. Sold Out on You airs every Wednesday and Thursday at 9 PM on SBS.
