On March 17, the 35-year-old star Anri Sakaguchi was arrested by the Tokyo Metropolitan Police on suspicion of theft after allegedly taking a sandwich from a convenience store. She reportedly did not resist arrest and admitted to the act during questioning. She is currently being held at Takao Police Station.

Prior to the incident, she had already raised concerns after being spotted wandering the streets in poor condition earlier this year. According to reports, her personal life has remained unstable, with ongoing health issues and dependence on prescription medication. In a February interview, she shared that she had gained weight, suffered from knee pain, and experienced fluctuating physical health, though she claimed her mental state was relatively stable. She also expressed a desire to find a normal relationship and have children before turning 40.

Reports also indicate that she recently divorced her third husband, a 59-year-old office worker, just one month after their marriage. Anri Sakaguchi is the daughter of late actress Ryoko Sakaguchi, a well-known figure in Japan’s entertainment industry. Benefiting from her mother’s fame, she quickly gained attention in the late 2000s, appearing on variety shows and building a youthful public image. She also starred in the film Honey Flappers and became a popular gravure idol featured in major magazines.

However, her life took a dramatic turn after her mother’s passing in 2013. Despite inheriting a large fortune, she reportedly spent it quickly and struggled to maintain her career. Sources claim she became involved in excessive cosmetic procedures, nightlife, and mounting financial issues, including debts to loan sharks.

In 2016, she shocked the public by leaving her agency and entering the adult film industry under the name “Anri.” The decision was widely seen as a departure from mainstream entertainment. During this period, she livestreamed provocative content and even publicly asked for financial support.

Her legal troubles also escalated. In 2017, she was arrested on suspicion of attempted extortion involving an ex-boyfriend, and in 2019, she was arrested again for allegedly trespassing into a former partner’s residence. In 2020, she reportedly experienced a traumatic incident involving assault, which had a lasting impact on her mental health. In the years that followed, she took on various jobs, including working at bars, doing nail services, and livestreaming online.

Her personal life has remained turbulent, with multiple short-lived marriages. In 2022, she married transgender fighter Shinichi Fukushima shortly after meeting him, but the marriage ended within a year. A later marriage in 2025 also ended after just one month.
