Huang Zitao has become the subject of growing health concerns after fans pointed out unusual discoloration in his lips during a recent livestream with his wife, Xu Yiyang.
The couple recently hosted a live broadcast to interact with fans, during which one viewer expressed alarm over Huang Zitao’s visibly purple-toned lips, warning that the symptom could indicate a heart-related issue and urging him to seek medical evaluation.
Although Huang Zitao initially brushed off the concern, Xu Yiyang appeared visibly worried and responded seriously, saying, “Don’t ignore comments like that we really should get you checked.”
Her concern quickly drew public attention, and on April 7, Xu Yiyang later updated fans through her personal social media account, confirming that Huang Zitao had undergone a basic health examination and plans to receive more detailed medical tests later this year.
Medical experts note that purple or bluish lips can sometimes indicate low blood oxygen saturation, which may be associated with cardiovascular, respiratory, or circulatory problems. In more severe cases, such symptoms may signal serious conditions such as heart failure or myocardial infarction, though no diagnosis regarding Huang Zitao has been made public.
Originally debuting in 2012 as a member of EXO, Huang Zitao left the group in 2015 after terminating his exclusive contract with SM Entertainment.
Xu Yiyang, meanwhile, entered SM Entertainment as a trainee in 2014 and gained early attention after appearing on My SMT alongside future aespa member Ningning in 2016, before eventually leaving the company in 2018.
After returning to China, both Huang Zitao and Xu Yiyang continued building successful careers as singers and actors. Their relationship drew media attention for years amid repeated dating and breakup rumors before the couple officially registered their marriage in 2024. In 2025, they held a lavish wedding ceremony that also sparked controversy over what some critics described as overly playful behavior during the event.
Beyond entertainment, Huang Zitao has recently gained headlines as a businessman. Earlier this year, he revealed during an appearance on broadcaster Hong Jin Kyung’s YouTube channel that his newly launched sanitary pad business had generated over ₩30 billion (approximately $22 million USD) in revenue within just three months.
While Huang Zitao has not publicly addressed any serious medical condition, fans continue expressing concern and hoping upcoming detailed tests will bring reassuring results.
