Taiwanese TV host Dee Hsu, also known as the sister-in-law of Koo Jun-yup, has returned to broadcasting nearly a year after the passing of her older sister, Barbie Hsu.
Her comeback, however, quickly became a hot topic—not only for the emotional weight behind it but also for her candid and controversial remarks on set.
According to local reports, Dee Hsu resumed her role as the main MC of a variety show, marking her first broadcast appearance since February last year. The studio audience welcomed her warmly, but the atmosphere soon turned emotional.

During filming, she openly expressed overwhelming feelings, even using strong language as she explained, “Do you know why people created swear words? Because there are too many emotions—sadness, joy, happiness.”
Her remarks reflected the emotional complexity she has carried since losing her sister, and her unfiltered expression drew both sympathy and criticism.
Dee Hsu also shared that she deeply missed being on stage, admitting that she needed time to process her emotions before returning.

She acknowledged that viewers might feel uncomfortable seeing her laugh while still grieving, but emphasized that everything she shows on screen comes from genuine emotion.
Her late sister, Barbie Hsu, was widely loved for her role in the hit drama Meteor Garden, and her sudden passing from acute pneumonia during a trip to Japan last year shocked fans across Asia.
While many fans supported Dee Hsu’s honest and vulnerable comeback, others criticized her use of profanity on air, sparking debate online.
The incident highlights the delicate balance public figures must navigate when expressing personal grief in a professional setting.
