On the April 1 episode of MBC’s Radio Star , Lee Chae-young appeared as a guest and shared candid behind-the-scenes stories about life as an idol.
She revealed that within the group, members often give each other blunt “reality checks,” especially when it comes to weight and appearance. While preparing for sudden schedules, she recalled wanting to order fried chicken, only to be stopped by fellow members.

“They would say, ‘Are you really going to eat that?’ and tell me to look at myself in the mirror,” she said. “After rehearsals, they’d calmly say, ‘You look a bit big.’ That actually hurt more.” Lee Chae-young admitted that such comments sometimes made her lose her appetite altogether. However, she clarified that this kind of honesty was mutual among the members and even encouraged within the group.

Fellow guest Chae Yeon commented that the dynamic could have a positive side, noting that it’s better than a competitive mindset where members only focus on themselves.
The story sparked discussion among viewers, highlighting the intense pressures idols face regarding appearance, and the complex ways group dynamics can both support and challenge them.
