South Korean actress Nana, a former member of After School, is once again at the center of public attention as new developments emerge in the ongoing home invasion case involving her and her mother.
Despite repeatedly expressing their refusal to appear in court, both Nana and her mother have been officially summoned as witnesses for the upcoming April hearing—raising the possibility of further delays in the trial.
The case is being handled by the Uijeongbu District Court’s Namyangju branch, which held its second hearing on March 24 for a man in his 30s identified as “A,” charged with robbery and injury. While the defendant and his legal team were present, Nana and her mother did not attend, with only their legal representatives appearing in court.
Previously, Nana’s mother had formally submitted a statement of non-attendance in February, followed by an additional explanation earlier this month. Nana herself also filed a written opinion supporting the request, making it clear that both wished to avoid confronting the suspect in court.

However, the court has proceeded to schedule the next hearing for April 21 and has issued official summons for both women as witnesses. The decision is understood as part of efforts to verify key facts in the case, though their continued refusal to attend could complicate proceedings.
The incident dates back to November 15, 2025, when the suspect allegedly broke into Nana’s residence in Guri, armed with a weapon, and attempted to extort money while threatening Nana and her mother. The two reportedly managed to subdue him after a physical struggle and alerted the police.
Investigations later revealed that the suspect had targeted the upscale residential area due to financial difficulties. He has since been detained and indicted.
In a surprising turn, the suspect filed a counter-complaint accusing Nana of attempted murder, but authorities dismissed the claim, ruling her actions as self-defense.

During earlier hearings, the suspect admitted to trespassing but denied intent to commit robbery, claiming he entered the home for theft and was unarmed. He also alleged that he was attacked by Nana during the confrontation—claims that have been strongly disputed.
Nana’s agency, Sublime, issued a firm statement condemning the suspect’s actions, emphasizing that “the victims suffered a serious crime involving an armed intruder” and criticizing what they described as continued false claims and secondary harm against the actress.
The agency further confirmed that legal action for false accusation is now underway, stressing that there will be no compromise in protecting the victim’s rights and safety.
In a recent appearance on a YouTube show, Nana briefly reflected on the घटना, stating, “It all happened so fast… it was a life-or-death moment. I acted on instinct.” She also clarified rumors about her martial arts skills, explaining that she had no formal training and reacted purely out of urgency to protect her mother.
As the April hearing approaches, attention is focused on whether Nana and her mother will comply with the court’s request—or whether their continued absence could prolong an already complex case.
