On March 24, Park Min Young appeared on the YouTube channel “TEO” alongside Wi Ha-joon to promote their current tvN drama Siren (세이렌). During the conversation, she opened up about the unpredictable nature of filming in her rookie years.
When asked whether actors usually know about major character twists in advance, Park Min Young explained that wasn’t the case in the past. “You find out later,” she said, recalling her experience on High Kick!.

She revealed that the production relied heavily on “live scripts,” meaning scripts were often written and delivered just days before filming. “At the time, scripts would come out weekly, sometimes even later,” she explained.
The most shocking moment came when her character suddenly took an unexpected turn. “I only found out then that I turn 20 and become a spy,” she said, laughing. “I was like, ‘Wait, I’m a spy? I’m suddenly 20? And now I’m driving a car?’”
Her candid recollection highlighted the improvisational nature of sitcom filming at the time. “For High Kick!, we had to keep acting almost spontaneously,” she added.
Park Min Young also shared the story behind one of the show’s most memorable moments, the “Run, Yumi” scene. She explained that what started as a simple running shot turned into an iconic segment after staff praised her form. “I wasn’t fast and didn’t have much stamina, but they said my running form looked great,” she said. This led the writer to expand the idea, eventually turning it into a featured moment—with Park Min Young even recording the accompanying song herself.

Despite the challenges, the actress expressed deep affection for the sitcom that helped launch her career. “It was really difficult to film, but it’s the project that opened my life,” she said, emphasizing how those early struggles shaped her journey as an actress.
Currently, Park Min Young is starring in the tvN drama Siren, continuing to build on a career that began with unexpected twists—both on screen and behind the scenes.
